Our Corporate Social Responsibility

Our vision is to run the best cloud platform for global customs and trade compliance. We acknowledge that our core processes have a substantial impact on the environment we operate in, on the people we work with and we work for. Our ambition is to leverage the positive impact we have and work on avoiding, reducing and compensating negative impact. Corporate social responsibility for us means building trust with our stakeholders, fostering a culture of integrity and accountability, and do our best in contributing to a sustainable future for all.

Our Responsibility

"We recognize that our actions and decisions have a profound impact on the world around us.

Therefore, we have set up our CSR program to actively manage our impact in alignment with the sustainable development and climate action goals.

We are committed to ensuring that our activities align with our values of fairness, faithfulness, and sustainability."

Alfred Hiebl, DI
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

How we contribute

  • Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) concept is based on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (UNS SDGs) and is tailored to MIC’s business field, company size, and corporate values
  • We identified 7 SDGs where MIC and its core processes have the biggest impact
  • We translated the United Nation's SDGs to MIC- specific focus areas to make clear how we can contribute to the SDGs
  • In 2019, we conducted a Materiality Analysis to define a priority and focus on what SDGs to contribute first
  • Every year we set goals and focus areas, plan and conduct initiatives
  • We want to consider all stakeholder groups (employees, customers, owners, MIC Management) and their interests to ensure a common understanding and shared vision of how CSR contributes to MIC's strategic goals.
  • CSR supports MIC's corporate culture and mission and strives for an equal acknowledgment of the triple bottom line: economic, ecological, and social responsibility.

Our Corporate Carbon Footprint

We started to measure the Corporate Carbon Footprint (=CCF1) of our Headquarter in Linz in 2019. Our goal was to get a first picture of our Corporate Carbon Footprint and find out where we have leverage in reducing our emissions. In 2022, we committed ourselves to set-up a plan for CO2 footprint reduction to net zero by 2040. This year's focus is to reduce our CO2 footprint by 10%by following the principle avoid - reduce - compensate.

The measured emissions are Scope 1+2, except in the category Mobility, where we also measure Scope 3 emissions.

1 For measuring our CCF, we used Glacier's tool CARMA, which allowed us a fast assessment of our leverage when it comes to CO2 reduction.

Setting this goal, we aim at contributing to the UN's SDG Goal 13: "Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts." We want to align our endeavours with the EU goals on Carbon Neutrality.
